Advancing Ebola Vaccine Research!
Makerere University Lung Institute continues groundbreaking work in the TOKOMEZA Ebola Vaccine Trial. This trial employs the ring vaccination strategy, a targeted approach where contacts of confirmed Ebola cases and their contacts are vaccinated to create a protective “ring” around the infection, effectively preventing further spread.
The study is supported by global health partners and funders, including the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other key stakeholders, ensuring robust research and equitable vaccine access.

This research is critical in strengthening Uganda’s preparedness and advancing local solutions for infectious disease outbreaks.
