Winters Muttamba MBChB, MPH is a public health scientist and certified project manager. He has coordinated a number of research projects in the field of HIV, TB and Asthma. His main research interests are in HIV, TB and chronic respiratory diseases mainly Asthma. Previously, he has coordinated TB molecular diagnostic evaluation studies, GeneXpert roll out studies as well projects aimed at increasing TB case finding in Ugandan health facilities. More recently he has coordinated a TB patients costs survey that assessed the economic burden incurred by TB patients and their households and identified major cost drivers. He is currently project manager of the African Severe Asthma Project (ASAP); a large multi-country project in Eastern Africa (Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia) that will characterize severe asthma based on demographic, clinical, physiologic, pathologic, genomic and immunologic determinants. Winters has delivered several abstract presentations at both national and international conferences and has published some papers in peer reviewed journals. He sits on the in-country technical working group of the East African Public Health Laboratory Networking Project.
