Dr. Simon Walusimbi is a Public Health Physician specialized in Health Systems Research spanning over ten years. He holds a PhD in Medicine, in addition to degrees in Medicine and Public Health. Simon has extensive experience from implementing several National and District level health projects in Uganda. He is a Senior Research Fellow with Makerere University Lung Institute and coordinator for work package 3 & 7 under the Fresh Air H2020 project.

His interests originally focused on Infectious Lung Diseases in the area of Tuberculosis and HIV co-infection, but have currently expanded to other chronic lung diseases such as asthma and COPD. He is a member of the Board of the Uganda STOP TB partnership and has chaired the Uganda TB and HIV Working Group for the last three years.
