The Institute is hinged on research and innovation to address the lung disease burden. Currently, the Institute is implementing over 15 research projects focusing on chronic lung diseases such as COPD; asthma which involves characterizing severe asthma in the African population, and establishing a state of the art asthma care model. Other research projects include; population based surveys, pulmonary rehabilitation; testing interventions for smoking cessation and reduction of exposure to air pollution, etc. All these projects contribute towards the institute’s vision of an Africa with healthy lungs.
